As part of Pride Week, four McCanners, including myself, gave insight into what life and work are like for LGBTQ+ people in 2018. Each of us, coming from a different part of the community, gave dimension to the LGBTQ+ spectrum discussing identity, intersectionality, myth & misconceptions.

Hispanic Culture: Taking Center Stage

During Hispanic Heritage Month, I helped lead a panel discussing the importance of representation in the media. Hearing from different cultures across Latin America, McCanners discussed the definitions of acculturation, code switching and what it means to lead with passion.

Beyoncé 101: When Life Gives You 🍋’s

The idea behind the Beyoncé presentation started because I am passionate about social justice and pop culture. Given that Beyoncé is an omnipresent figure in society, I thought it would be a great way to get people together to talk about feminism and equality in the 21st century. I first shared this at the McCann offices, but then extended to a venue in Brooklyn.
